This Week

What to watch, play and stream this week: 19–25 October 2026

Modern Warfare 4, the first HD-2D Final Fantasy, Switch Sports Resort and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on Netflix. Your guide to the week of 19 October, wherever you are.

Welcome to the second Binge Bulletin round-up. Last week was about Castlevania; this week belongs to two very different giants – the year’s Call of Duty and the first HD-2D Final Fantasy – with a Switch 2 sports party and a long-awaited anime sequel on top. Game dates are worldwide unless we name a region; streaming availability varies by country, so check your local service.

The headliner: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Infinity Ward’s new Modern Warfare launches worldwide on Friday 23 October, set during a North Korean invasion of the South, with Captain Price waging his own war on the side. It’s on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC – but not PS4 or Xbox One – and, notably, Switch 2, making it the first new Call of Duty on a Nintendo console in a long time. Digital pre-orders include campaign early access from 16 October, so some of your friends may already be a few missions ahead.

For JRPG fans: Final Fantasy Resonance

The first Final Fantasy in the HD-2D style (think Octopath Traveler) arrives on Thursday 22 October on consoles, with the Steam version following on Friday 23 October. It’s based on the first story arc of the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, rebuilt as a full console RPG with turn-based battles, chocobos, airships and cameos from familiar faces. A comfortable pick for long autumn evenings.

Party pick: Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

Back to Wuhu Island, Switch 2 only, from Thursday. Twelve motion-controlled sports – bowling, archery, thumb wrestling and more – for up to four players in the same room, plus online play. It’s the obvious “everyone’s coming round” game for the rest of the year.

Co-op and cosy

We Were Here Tomorrow (Tuesday) is a co-op-only puzzle game where two players talk each other through what they can see – great for a partner or housemate, and on our two-player games list. One Piece: Grand Gourmet (Friday) is a cooking-and-restaurant game set in the One Piece world. Mycopunk finally leaves Early Access on Tuesday for chaotic co-op shooting.

Try before you buy: Steam Next Fest

Steam Next Fest runs from 19 to 26 October, with free demos of upcoming PC games. If you’ve got a Steam Deck, it’s a great way to fill up a commute – see our Steam Deck and handheld picks.

TV and streaming

Streaming catalogues differ from country to country, so check your local service.

  • Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 (Netflix, Tuesday 20 October) – the return to Night City, and the big anime event of the week. More below.
  • The Terminal List season 2 (Prime Video, Wednesday 21 October) – Chris Pratt is back as James Reece, with all eight episodes at once.
  • Nobody Wants This season 3 (Netflix, Thursday 22 October) – the rom-com returns with all ten episodes in one go.
  • Lupin Part 4 (Netflix, Friday 23 October) – Omar Sy’s gentleman thief is back for eight more episodes.
  • Time series 3 – US & Canada: BritBox from Thursday 22 October, weekly. UK: already running on BBC.

Anime this week

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 lands on Netflix on Tuesday 20 October. If you missed the first season, it’s ten episodes – very doable before Tuesday if you clear an evening or two. Elsewhere, the Fall 2026 season is well into its stride on Crunchyroll (catalogues vary by region); our Fall 2026 anime watchlist has the highlights, and if you’ve caught up on everything airing, try our underrated anime from the last five years.

The Bulletin’s pick of the week

If you only do one thing: Final Fantasy Resonance on Thursday for a cosy turn-based weekend, with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on the sofa midweek. Got friends coming round? Switch Sports Resort does the hosting for you.

See you next Monday – and if the release dates shift (they do), we’ll update the table rather than pretend they didn’t.
